Eliz lent it to me because it was a good beach book, which is so my literary prescription right now. It was one of those books where there is minimal plot-line but maximum character developement/introspection/etc. Overall, fairly engaging, good subject matter, and held my attention surprisingly better than Running with Scissors.

im here because i was chosen to be

I was driving in York today and found a box factory that was on the corner of Walt Way. So pretty much, I'm betting the Island moved to York, PA. I'm not one of those fools who mistakes destiny for coincidence.

after miss julie

I remember when I was in England the summer after I graduated college and Sienna Miller was playing Celia in As You Like It. It was then that I learned of the style and sass that is Sienna Miller. Now, seven years later, Miss Miller has shown herself to be even more stylish & sassy than anticipated, and even more talentless than her reviews would have predicted. So, why has she been confirmed to be the lead in Patrick Marber's After Miss Julie on Broadway. I'm not opposed to film actors being Broadway star carriages. As long as they are deserving and can hold thier own. But it's bad enough that actresses who don't even feign talent or training are getting good roles, but getting good roles a in Patrick Marber play just breaks my little heart.

jughead

My Thoughts

Daniel Faraday hates a bad attitude.

Charlotte's a goner. And it makes sense because anytime there is a situation where people are happy in love, something bad happens to them (Libby & Hurley, Sayid & Shannon, Sun & Jin, and now Faraday & Charlotte).

So apparently Whidmore and Benry would childhood colleagues. And so there is going to be some issue with chain-of-command or something.

Why are all the Hostiles British except Richard?

Mainland Desmond dressed like the ad for gay collogne.

There were some serious Narnia moments.

If you bury a bomb, leaking radiation ... the side affects of radiation could 1. cure cancers 2. affect pregnancy in women and 3. cause any kind of "sickness (thank you Mike)

I'm glad they are building up to the Juliet/Sawyer lovefest. It'll be fun when they realize Jack & Kate are actually alive.

This whole John Locke business is intense. I'm glad there is such a reasonable explaination for Richard showing up throughout JL's life. It makes the Others seem less crazy for the fact that they have been waiting for him and he is this legend (which felt kind of Pan's Labrynth-ish to me...here's this girl who is the savior of a fairyland, and here is this paralyzed box-worker who has an island of people waiting for him even before he is born.)

Theory of the Week

Ellie (1954)/Eloise Hawkings (1996ish):

*they both work are Brits on the Whidmore team

Daniel Faraday:
Photobucket
*Funded by Whidmore for 10 yrs
*Father to dead mouse Eloise (also telling Desmond, "Tell me you know about Eloise" could mean more than just the mouse)
*Ellie looked familiar to him bc she was his young mama

another flash

It used to be that I would drive home to Wilmington from York and the other day I did the opposite. I drove by my old house in Holly Oak and it looked a lot better than when I left it. I didn't like seeing other people's cars in the driveway though.
Photobucket

The post-Mojo hours made me remember my love for Sam's Town. And my drive home made me remember my love for the Mama's and the Papa's. Coming to/from New York, York, or Delaware to each other is always a weird little mental adjustment, but it was really nice to see the Oceanic 6 and company.

because you left/the lie

My thoughts

I like that Sayid started straightening his hair on the mainland.

Could Miles be Marvin Candle's son? (Kt's insight, not mine)

I kind of think Sun and Whidmore should be daters.

"Previously on Expose..." = PRICELESS

Neal was cool while he lasted but I am glad he turned out to be a sacrifice the island demanded.

I'm so over Bernard & Rose having any air time.

I love love love Sun.

I think if I was Hurley and I told my mom what he told his, she would totally believe me too.

Penny and Des have a baby!?

I hope Charlotte dies.

My inauguration day fortune cookie said:
The will of the people is the best law.

My favorite quote from Obama's inauguration speech:
For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness.

I love Rick Warren and his prayer was perfect.

Now on to Lost.

what sarah said

my current song to play on repeat:

And it came to me then that every plan is a tiny prayer to father time
As I stared at my shoes in the ICU that reeked of piss and 409
And I rationed my breathes as I said to myself that I'd already taken too much today
As each descending peak of the LCD took you a little farther away from me
Amongst the vending machines and year old magazines
In a place where we only say goodbye

Then I looked around at all the eyes on the ground as the TV entertained itself
Cause there's no comfort in the waiting room just nervous paces bracing for bad news
Then the nurse comes round and everyone lifts their heads
But I'm thinking of what Sarah said
That love is watching someone die

days of my life

I woke up tired today. Yesterday I came back to York from Wilmington. The night before, I got to see Rachael, went to a quiet open mic, and ate too much at Golden Castle.

Yesterday was Poppop's funeral. I knew it would be hard, but it was harder than I expected with all the awkward dynamics, conversations & questions about my dad's health, and just the fact that it's impossible to anticipate my reaction going into a funeral. He served in the Navy, so the actual burial was really beautiful because played Taps on the bugle & did the 21 shots. I don't mean to be morbid, but they inscribe the top of veterans' caskets & it's actually very pretty:

Tonight, I went to my first rehearsal for Anne. It seemed well run. We played a learn each other names games, and of course I was the only one to get answers wrong. I like the theatre space itself, it reminds me of somewhere but I can't remember where yet. People in York are so nice it can throw me off sometimes.

good morning

I had a dream last night that I was eating a bowl of cereal and after I drank the milk someone had written will you marry me on the bottom of the bowl. I can only hope that it will be that romantic in real life.

So...

it has taken me five years to work up the nerve to audition again after the personal tragedy that was the Gordon College theatre department...but I did and am going to be playing Anne in Anne of Avonlea at the end of Feb. The story is that Anne gives up her dreams of being a writer in the big city to come back to the country to help old Marilla take care of the farm. Art imitates life.

lotto

My sister read me an article the other day about some guy who bought a lottery ticket, died, then won ten million dollars.
I relate.

2009

If NYEs are an indicator of the year to come, then 09 will be fine. NYE 2008 was the worst NYE of my life and 2008 was the worst year of my life, so I am a believer in the theory.

I introduced Gigl/Otis to New York City for the first time and she did me proud. No indoor accidents, no hit-and-run incidents, no eating Minty/Milo. On NYE, Eliz and I went to two parties~the first in the lower east side in the imaginary Peter Cooper Village and at Dan's on the upper west. So 2009 happily arrived to me with a newfound hatred for cabdrivers, a newfound appreciation for Edie Sedgwick & Marie Antoinette, and a newfound tolerance for NYE.

To me, the Killers are to music what Lost is to television. And the thing I love about them is that their cds always come out with themes/songs/specific lyrics that are always so specifically applicable to my life. Hot Fuss was the summer of 2004, when I was about to move to Massachusetts & was coming out of my cage and I was doing just fine. Then Sam's Town came out as I was leaving New Hampshire to move back to Wilmington, which pretty much must be the city that inspired the song. And sometimes, I closed my eyes and saw the place where I used to live when I was young. Continue to Sawdust, a very Romeo & Juliet era of my life. And finally, we have the Killers' newest, Light & Day. I don't like the cd title because it sounds too Polyphonic Spree song, but I definitely have needed consolation in my darkest hour with all this impending doom going around.
